The Tax War with Artificial Intelligence Begins
Yesterday a prospective client told me he had drafted, with ChatGPT, the replies he would give to the draft tax audit report sent to him. Yes, you heard right; taxpayers now consult not only their accountant but also artificial intelligence.
The tax administration, of course, also benefits from the blessings of technology; AI-based systems are used in many areas such as risk analysis, detection of false invoices, data matching and digital tracing.
But the new era presents a very different picture. Tax inspectors will now contend not only with the taxpayer but also with artificial intelligence. A new age in the world of tax; the taxpayer versus artificial intelligence, the inspector versus artificial intelligence.
Who knows, perhaps reports will soon carry the note; “these replies are AI-assisted.”
